Caps on Damages are unfair and ineffective |

Insurance companies and doctors in Pennsylvania mistakenly claim that capping awards for chronic suffering, acute pain, and loss of a loved one would solve the current medical malpractice insurance problem. This is not true. The insurance industry itself admits that so-called caps would not reduce doctors� medical malpractice insurance premiums.
The Pennsylvania trial lawyers message is that caps of any kind are unfair and will not fix the insurance crisis. To this end, we have prepared a statement on caps that includes recent newspaper articles and op-ed columns as well as research from consumer groups that support PaTLA's position.
