House recesses before voting on legislation to tax legal services (11/28/2005) -- The state House of Representatives last week failed to vote on proposed legislation changing the state sales tax that would make it legal to apply sales tax to professional services including legal services. The House recessed on Nov. 23 without voting on the legislation. The Legislature will return to Session on December 5, and both Chambers will consider proposals to reduce property tax, including one that will expand the collection of sales tax to some professional services including legal.
