AMA resolution introduced to refuse to treat trial lawyers and their spouses

(6/4/2023) -- The American Medical Association has introduced a resolution to adopt a new policy that it is ethical for physicians to refuse to treat plaintiffs' attorneys and their spouses.

According to the AMA’s Web site, the resolution was introduced by Dr. J. Chris Hawk, III, a delegate form South Carolina. It is unclear from the Web site whether the resolution is to be considered at the association’s upcoming House of Delegates meeting, or if it has any support.  The resolution states the doctors’ efforts at tort reform “have failed at a national level.”
