(4/19/2004) -- The Morning Call of Allentown reported Sunday that doctors in Pennsylvania are not leaving in droves because of rising malpractice premiums, contrary to their relentless three-year campaign to convince state lawmakers and the public otherwise.
According to the article, new state government statistics, the first to shed definitive light on a factually murky crisis that has consumed state officials and panicked consumers, show little or no dip in the number of doctors.
And a separate set of previously undisclosed figures -- from the Pennsylvania Medical Society itself -- indicate there probably are more physicians in Pennsylvania than ever, the newspaper reports.
