Senate passes abatement bill for Pa. physicians, House to vote soon
(12/22/2003) -- The Pennsylvania Senate passed HB 44 early Saturday morning, which establishes the rules and regulations surrounding the abatement program for Pennsylvania physicians. The actual funding is done in the overall tax package and is 25 cents per pack for cigarettes. The abatement is for calendar years 2003 and 2004. It is expected that the house will pass HB 44 this evening or early tomorrow morning and it will be quickly signed by Governor Rendell.
