House considers pro-consumer insurance legislation
The State House Insurance Committee today voted out of Committee two important Bills which if voted on and passed would greatly help injured victims. HB1456 (which mainly increases the minumum BI limits from 15/30 to 25/50) was voted out of Committee by a 14-12 margin. HB1458 (which mainly changes the language of Section 1705 from "limited tort/full tort" to "limited right to sue/full right to sue) was voted out of Committee 15-11. Both Bills can now be voted on by the House if called up for a vote.
Now is the time to write and call the legislators and ask them to (1) ask the Republican Leadership for a floor vote on the Bills and (2) vote YES on both bills. Now is also the time to contribute (increase) membership in LAWPAC and the Civil Justice Preservation Campaign. For more information on contributing to LAWPAC, contact [email protected].
