Pa. Newspapers call for Sen. Piccola's recusal
(2/11/2022) - The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Scranton Times have both called for the recusal of state Sen. Jeff Piccola from the issue of caps on pain and suffering in medical malpractice and product liability issues. The editorial boards of The Inquirer (“Tort Reform Hitch-Hikers,” Jan. 20) and the Scranton Times (“Senator Piccola's Serious Conflict,” Feb. 9) have questioned the senator’s involvement with the insurance industry and his plan to amend the state constitution so that such a cap could be placed on all damage awards.
The Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association is vigorously opposed to caps of any kind because they are unfair to consumers.
