Schubert elected President of state trial lawyers association
Richard J. Schubert, Esq., of Pittsburgh, has been elected President of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. Schubert took office on July 12 at the association's annual convention.
Schubert is a partner in the law firm of Lydon & Schubert, P.C. where he focuses his practice on workers' compensation, automobile insurance, medical malpractice, premises liability, and products liability law. He is a graduate of Duquesne University (cum laude) and its School of Law and was associate editor of the Duquesne Law Review.
Schubert has held many leadership positions within the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (PaTLA). As chair of PaTLA's Public Relations Committee, he has taken on the task of educating the public on important issues, such as the danger of damage caps and the important role of the civil justice system. He is a former chair of the Membership and Amicus Curiae Committees. He has also served as co-chair of PaTLA's Administrative Oversight and Election Oversight Committees. In 1996, he was awarded the George F. Douglas Amicus Curiae Award for outstanding appellate advocacy. He has lectured at seminars for PaTLA, ATLA, and the Allegheny County Bar. He also has written various articles for PaTLA periodicals.
Schubert is also a past president of Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and has held every officer's position and served on its Board of Governors. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, and the Allegheny County Bar Association. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Schubert resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Mary, and children Brendan, Neal, and Laura.
